who we are and what we do

We're all about Jesus

We believe every man, woman and child should have repeated opportunities to hear, see and respond to the good news about Jesus Christ! If you don't have a personal relationship with Jesus, we'd love to introduce you.

Our Story

Better Together

The story of Hope Hills Church involves two unique, mission-focused churches in north Calgary—Northern Hills Church and Hope Church—combining together as one new church in the summer of 2022.

Northern Hills Church was led by Lead Pastor Peter Roberts. It started in 2014 in the Landmark Cinema Country Hills in the Northern Hills area of Calgary. Hope Church was led by Lead Pastor Dustin Conner. It started in 2018 in the Kenneth D. Taylor School and then relocated the Sage Hill Retirement Residence in the Symons Valley area of Calgary in 2019.

Before combining as one, both congregations were already active in their communities hosting kids camps and community events and both were passionate about loving God, loving others, making disciples and serving those inside and outside our churches. Covid-19 brought unique challenges to each congregation in 2021, prompting conversations in the spring of 2022 about joining as one church. We found that both churches were very similar and highly compatible in all we did and believed as churches. In August of 2022, Northern Hills Church and Hope Church came together as one new church now called Hope Hills Church.

Our Beliefs

Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and we accept it as the final authority for all matters of faith and practice.[1]

God

We believe there is one God, the creator and sustainer of the universe, who reveals Himself to us as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.[2]

Jesus

We believe that Jesus is Lord, the Christ, the Son of the living God. He was born both fully human and fully divine. We believe that Jesus suffered and died on the cross, that he was buried and then rose from the dead, that he ascended into Heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father, and that he will return to earth to judge both the living and the dead.[3]

Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God sent to indwell, guide, teach and empower all believers, and to convince the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.[4]

Church

We believe that the church of Jesus Christ consists of all Christians everywhere, and that the mission of the church is to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey all of Jesus’ commands.[5]

Salvation

We believe that mankind was created in the image of God, given dominion over all creation, and walked with God. However, the sin of man caused separation from God and caused death to enter the world. Through Jesus Christ we are offered forgiveness of our sins, eternal life and our relationship with God is restored. This forgiveness cannot be earned, but is offered freely as we respond to Jesus in faith. Our faithful response includes admitting our sinfulness, turning away from sin, trusting Jesus as Savior, and being baptized into Christ.[6]
